Mr. Pembroke's Mathematics Exam Retake Policy
Dear sixth grade students and families,
You can go over your missed problems, redo them completely on a separate piece of paper, showing all work, numbering the problem, thereby making it very clear and easy for me to re-grade it.
The catch here is you MUST do this at home after I send the test back for parent signatures in your planner. You can get half credit back on each problem you missed IF you redo it correctly, neatly, and on a new piece of paper stapled to the front of the test.
This will take initiative on your part.
My logic for handling it this way is simple. Immediate feedback is very important. Revisiting the material right away is very important. Waiting a week or more doesn't help you score better on a retake in general. Also, by taking the time and effort to redo problems the night after the test is returned, shows that you are willing to really take the time and effort the score better.
If you wish you had scored better on this test, you must use a new piece of paper, redo the problems you missed showing all steps in the problem, turn it back in with the original test THE NEXT DAY, and I'll rescore it. If you don't turn it in the next day, I generally won't accept the redo.
