Claudia Trout

I feel grateful to be part of the Chico Country Day School community. What I love most about CCDS is the strong sense of connection and care among students, families, and staff, and the way each child is truly seen as an individual.

I attended Chico State and received a BA in Liberal Studies and Spanish. I hold a Multiple Subject BCLAD credential, Administrative Credential, and Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. Over the years, I’ve taught preschool, Kindergarten, 1st–2nd grade, and 7th grade. I especially loved teaching Kindergarten and still stay connected with some of my former students.

One of the teachers who most impacted my life was my 7th grade teacher, Mrs. Ostergard. She made me feel truly seen and fostered my love of reading, which continues to shape who I am today. Her influence reminds me how important it is for every child to feel valued and connected.

My favorite part of my current role is helping parents and caregivers connect more deeply with their child. I believe we all need to feel seen, heard, and valued, and that belief continues to inspire the work I do each day.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time on the river with my husband and our Bernedoodle, Bernie. On Saturdays, you can usually find me at the farmers market picking out fresh ingredients to cook with at home.
