Mikayla Anderson

Hi CCDS! I earned my undergraduate degree and teaching credential from California State University, Chico. I was lucky to serve as a student teacher at CCDS back in 2018 and fell in love with the strong values and the amazing community of families, students, and staff here! I have spent the past eight years teaching fourth and fifth grade, in both the Bay Area and in Chico. I’m passionate about creating a classroom where curiosity thrives and learning feels joyful, meaningful, and authentic. One of my favorite parts of teaching is getting to know each student, discovering what makes them curious and excited, and watching their confidence grow throughout the year!

My favorite teacher growing up was my fourth grade teacher, Ms. Cupani. She had a way of making learning feel exciting and fun. I remember how much she valued our ideas and made us feel like our voices truly mattered. The way she made me feel as a student has stayed with me, and I hope to create that same feeling for my own students.

Outside of school, I enjoy surrounding myself with family, friends, and nature. In my spare time, I love beaches, cooking, playing board games, and exploring Bidwell Park. I also have two sweet orange kitties, Pumpkin and Mars. I’m excited to embark on this journey with you. This year is going to be amazing!
