Renée Houbart

My family has deep roots in the Orland area, where my grandparents were raised, met, and fell in love. My grandmother grew up on a farm in Orland, and farming practices remain close to my heart. I regularly attend the Farmers Convergence, which connects state funding with local schools and farmers, a wonderful way to bring fresh, local ingredients into school nutrition programs, support our farming community, and send produce boxes home with families to extend nutrition education beyond the classroom.

Before entering the education sector, I built an international career as the Director of Operations for a luxury brand in Paris and London. My husband is French (a soon to be credentialed Special Education Teacher), and our two boys, now proud CCDS students, were born in Paris. We relocated back to the U.S. in 2018, where I began working in Fiscal Services for several California school districts, gaining broad experience in school finance and operations.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from San Francisco State University with a focus in International Business and am a certified Chief Business Official from CASBO. Over the years, I’ve worn many hats, including Chief Financial Officer, Assistant CBO, Payroll and Accounts Receivable/Payable specialist, Food Service Director, and even Marketing and Web Design. I am currently working toward my CPA certification and believe in continuously learning and seeking professional development for myself and my team.

Education is at the heart of everything we do, and I’m passionate about matching resources to student success. I’m thrilled to join Chico Country Day School not only as your new Chief Business Officer but also as a proud CCDS parent with a vested interest in the success of our school community. My door is always open, and I value transparency, collaboration, and fiscal integrity.

When I’m not working, I enjoy adventuring and traveling with my family, swimming, exploring Bidwell Park with our pug, Lilly, and discovering new ways to stay active and inspired.
