Below is a list of 2018/2019 CCDS Board Members with a brief bio of each of them.
2018/19 Board of Directors
Jessika Lawrence, Board Chair
Jessika Lawrence has two children enrolled at CCDS. Jessika is an Associate Professor at California State University, Chico in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Program. Prior to accepting a position at the university Jessika practiced as a school-based Speech and Language Therapist for 10+ years, including one year at CCDS (AY 2010-11).
Lowell Daun, Board Vice Chair
Lowell Daun, D.D.S., served 31 years with Delta Dental of California (DDC), and retired after 31 years as general manager for the business unit administering Delta’s voluntary and federal contracts with the U.S. government. Dr. Daun completed his Bachelors of Arts degree at University of Puget Sound, and his DDS at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. He is a Trustee (Emeritus) of the University of Puget Sound, and is honored with fellowships in the International College of Dentists, American College of Dentists, and the National Academies of Practice. He served many years on Advisory Board of National Military Family Association. Lowell, and his wife, Dorothy, have been directly involved in public school education throughout their two daughters' years in school. They served at local school and district levels. Their two grandsons attended Chico Country Day School, and one daughter is the Independent Study Teacher & Coordinator at Chico Country Day School.
Michelle Mittman, Board Treasurer
Michele Mittman graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Natural Resources. She has worked in several science research labs and is currently an academic advisor in the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Construction Management at Chico State University. Michele worked on the most recent CCDS charter renewal and WASC accreditation. She has a daughter at CCDS. Go Eagles!!
Chris Constantin, Board Secretary
Chris Constantin currently serves as the Assistant City Manager for the City of Chico having previously served as the Administrative Services Director overseeing Finance, Human Resources, IT, and Risk Management. Chris spent 17 years in local government also serving as the Assistant City Auditor for San Diego, CA and a Senior Auditor for San Jose. In those cities, Chris evaluated city operations to make government more efficient and effective. In total, Chris found improvements worth over $150 million and won six national awards during his time as a government auditor.
He spent 20 years in education as an elected official over two colleges in the Silicon Valley and most recently as a regional accreditor of 135 colleges in California, Hawaii and the Pacific. He also currently serves as a volunteer, fully-sworn police lieutenant with the City of Hayward, CA and is an active defensive tactics/use of force instructor for the department.
Chris graduated from San Jose State University with a B.S in Industrial and Systems Engineering and from Syracuse University with a Master of Public Administration. Chris is a Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Litigation Specialist, Certified Internal Auditor, and a Certified Economic Crime Forensic Examiner.

Brian Ausland, Board Member
Brian Ausland was a long-time CCDS parent with three of his children attending from 2001-2013, and now has two grandsons attending as well. Brian worked in public education from 1995-2012 as a teacher, administrator, professional development coordinator, and educational technology specialist serving with local districts and the Butte County Office of Education. He is now the Director of Educational Research and Design as a partner with a local education consulting firm and works on projects for the California Dept. of Education, the US Dept. of Education, and the Smithsonian Center for Learning and Digital Access.
Suzanne Zivnuska, Board Member
Dr. Suzanne Zivnuska is a Professor at California State University, Chico in the Department of Management. In that role she directs the Consulting Certificate Program, the Management Internship Program, and coordinates the Human Resource Management curriculum. Her Ph.D. training in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management from Florida State University (2002) prepared her to publish more than 30 academic articles in her career in areas such as organizational politics and impression management, as well as lifestyle issues such as work-family balance, social media use at work, and mindfulness at work. However, her most important job is being a parent of a terrific Chico Country Day School student! Together, she and her daughter love to explore new ideas and places. They love to travel, are passionate about gymnastics, and can often be found in Upper Park or eating sushi. Suzanne is excited to share her talents with the Chico Country Day School team and be involved in our school community.
