Chief Executive Officer

Wendy Fairon is the Executive Director of Chico Country Day School (CCDS). Originally from Rancho Bernardo in the San Diego area, she has been in education for over 20 years. She taught in the classroom for 11 years, first in elementary school and then as a middle school English teacher at CCDS.

In 2015 Wendy earned her Masters degree in School Leadership from High Tech High in San Diego. She wrote a professional development grant for project based learning while still teaching English at CCDS, which allowed several of our teachers to visit High Tech High and learn more about this unique teaching method. Since then project based learning has become one of the bedrock educational achievements for our school.

Wendy is now in her 9th year as an administrator. While her love for education runs strong, she also has a passion for cooking and creating. Wendy attended the culinary arts program at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island and we have heard on good authority from friends and colleagues that she is, in fact, a wonderful cook.

Wendy and her husband Matt have two sons who attend Chico Country Day. They love to spend time outdoors exploring, traveling, and being creative whenever they can.

After teaching middle school math for 16 years (half of those here at CCDS), I am so thrilled to return to Chico Country Day School as Middle School Dean.  I love working with middle school students. Their curiosity, energy, and sense of humor is contagious.  I am also excited to be a part of Project Based Learning again which serves as such a great platform for that curiosity and energy.
I grew up here in Chico and attended Butte College for 2 years before moving on to Carroll College in Montana to finish my college basketball career and my Bachelor’s degree. After spending a few years in Oregon and a few years on the Hopi Reservation in Arizona, we moved back to Chico to raise our family.
I have 3 children (all CCDS alumni) and I love traveling to visit them in my spare time.  If I’m not spending time with family I can be found on the Sacramento River, hiking, reading, or trying to figure out how to golf.
